Top 5 Ways to keep your body in balance now it’s Autumn

So, it’s got to that time of the year when the days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder and wetter. The summer is well and truly over, and people are feeling a little run-down – that feel good factor we get from it feeling warm and fresh has started to disappear.

We here at Goodbody Botanicals thought it would be good to put together our 5 ways to keep your balance the seasons change. So… look below to see the 5 ways we recommend keeping your body in balance…

#1 – Vitamin C

Said to be one of the most effective nutrients for a whole raft of deficiencies within the body. Now, while we appreciate it isn’t quite the cure for the common cold it certainly can boost your overall health and be seen as preventative.
There is certainly evidence that people with higher levels of Vitamin C within their blood have better immunity to most everyday viruses, bugs and those things ‘that are going around’.

Adding Vitamin C to your diet in the form of supplements like pills or effervescent drinks is always going to be better than not having it – that’s a given.  Here at Goodbody Botanicals would always recommend the fresh approach.

Fresh orange juice, fruit smoothies packed with all kinds of delicious, at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables is of paramount importance to keep your body in balance.

#2 – Vitamin D

The days are getting shorter, the sun is often disappearing behind the rainclouds and there are fewer and fewer opportunities to enjoy the good weather. This is a sad truth we have to face up to as Summer turns into Autumn and then eventually to Winter….

This often means that many people are simply not getting enough Vitamin D otherwise known as the “Sunshine Vitamin” which is crucial for the body. Other than it being created when the sunlight hits the skin Vitamin D is prevalent in dairy products, fish oil and eggs; not very good news for vegans in the winter months!

However, additional Vitamin D supplements are really worthwhile and can also stave off S.A.D or Seasonal Affective Disorder which can affect us all in different ways.

#3 – Water, drinking enough of the stuff

A basic need for the body to function – yet something the majority of people just don’t get enough of. We all crave a cup of coffee in the morning, but truth be told it’s a cold glass of water that’s really required.

Experts in nutrition state that we should be getting at least 2 litres of water a day! Can you hand-on-heart say that you do?

We don’t need to go into the importance of water really and a simple statistic tells you all require to know… Up to 60% of our bodies are composed of water!

#4 – Keeping active

The temptation as it gets colder and darker is to wrap up, keep warm and take it easy. It’s a given that when the world outside is not as hospitable as it was in July and August that you would want to settle down in front of a television series, film or maybe even a book.

However, are you getting the same amount of exercise that you were earlier on in the year? Exercise is of paramount importance to health and well-being and getting enough of it really does help with a whole host of mental and physical functions.

The Mayo Clinic states that “For most healthy adults, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends these exercise guidelines: Aerobic activity. Get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity.”

#5 – CBD

What I can tell you, is that CBD gives your system a little boost, promoting your health and well-being naturally.

The human body contains a little-known network of cannabinoid (or CBD) receptors called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Our ECS is absolutely vital to our survival because it regulates a huge number of everyday functions that support health and well-being and restores balance. Taking CBD supplement is a way to give the ECS a little boost, in a completely natural way. That is why it is taken as a food supplement by consumers are just looking to lead a healthy life.

Research suggests by tweaking the endocannabinoid system, cannabinoids push the body away from damage or disease, toward the unruffled state scientists call homeostasis.
